GPS Tracking system

posted in Technology |

When attempting to compare the Global Positioning System or GPS tracking system, it is very important to understand the geo-positioning concepts that govern the use of the technology. The components of the Global Positioning System or GPS tracking system include the control segment, space segments and the user segment. The control segment comprises five monitoring stations, out of which three serve as uplink installations. These are capable of collecting and transmitting data to the satellites and addressing new satellite positions, clock corrections and broadcast data. There is a master control station and the control segment is geared to take on the responsibility of the DoD for construction, launching and maintenance of all satellites.

The DoD monitoring stations track all Global Positioning System or GPS tracking system signals. The tracking enables the control of the satellites and collection of meteorological data. This makes the most accurate evaluation of tropospheric delays of the signals possible for better service. When comparing GPS information prior to investment, it is important to check on the quality of satellite tracking data from the monitoring stations transmitted to the master control station. This is the information that is later processed with the help of the satellite ephemerides.
